The SimCube NIBP configuration comprises 4 modes used in
testing the non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) function of medical patient
monitors. These four modes are: Manometer (pressure gauge), Adult,
Neonatal, and Hypertensive. The unit powers on immediately with AC power,
and the display (2) is lighted when a pressurized air source is connected to the
NIBP Connector (4). Pressing the Mode Button (1) toggles sequentially
through all modes, and the appropriate Mode LED (3) is lighted for each.
Manometer mode. In this mode NIBP simulation is
OFF, and measured air pressure is displayed. This mode is used to test the
Overpressure function of the monitor, as well as for Calibration and Leak.
Adult mode. NIBP simulation is ON, and responds
to measured air pressure by generating a pulse envelope that simulates a patient
with blood pressure of 120/80 mmHg, mean pressure of 100 mmHg, heart rate of 70 bpm, and simulated pulse volume of 1 ml.
Neonatal mode. NIBP simulation is ON, and
responds to measured air pressure by generating a pulse envelope that simulates
a patient with blood pressure of 70/40 mmHg, mean pressure of 55 mmHg, heart
rate of 95 bpm, and simulated pulse volume of 0.5 ml.
Hypertensive mode. NIBP simulation is ON, and
responds to measured air pressure by generating a pulse envelope that simulates
a patient with blood pressure of 190/120 mmHg, mean pressure of 150 mmHg, heart
rate of 70 bpm, and simulated pulse volume of 1 ml.
One T-adapter of your choice (DINAMAP/Critikon, Marquette, Quick Disconnect, or
Luer) is provided with the unit for NIBP connection. Additional adapters
are available for purchase.
Virtually no set-up or configuration of the SimCube is
required. Thus, while the total time required to test a given monitor is
monitor-dependent, the one-button operation of the SimCube ensures that your
test sequence is completed as quickly as possible.
