Challenge: IV pump manufacturers’ requirements for fluid height in IV pump testing can be very strict — because the most common IV pumps have a 1% loss of flow rate for every 10-inch loss in fluid-height. Refilling the IV bag or readjusting the IV pole may compensate somewhat, yet these methods are time-consuming and difficult to employ in a consistent manner.
